Office Space for 10 People: What Should You Look For?
What a 10-person team needs from an office: workspace type, layout, meeting rooms, amenities, location and room to grow.
Ten people is a common turning point. It's often the size at which working from home or a few coworking desks starts to feel limiting, and a team wants a space of its own. Here's what to look for.
Choose the right type
For a 10-person team, the usual options are a team area in a coworking space, a private office, or a small managed office. A private office is often the best fit: your own lockable room with shared meeting rooms and facilities around it.
Layout essentials
- Ten desks, or fewer if some people work remotely on most days.
- A cabin or quiet corner if a manager or founder takes confidential calls.
- Easy access to a meeting room for 6–8 people.
- Storage for equipment and files.
Facilities that matter
Reliable internet with backup, power backup, a pantry, clean washrooms and a reception for visitors and deliveries. Parking and 24/7 access matter for some teams more than others; decide what you need before you compare.
Location
With a small team, one long commute can affect hiring and retention. Choose a location most of your team can reach easily, and that new hires will find convenient.
Room to grow
A 10-person team often becomes 15 or 20. Ask whether you can add seats or move to a larger office in the same building.
